Softball Splits Double-Header With Findlay

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team hosted Findlay in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday. The Saints split the double-header, winning the first game by a score of 5-1, and then dropping the second, 7-5.

GAME ONE - Siena Heights 5, Findlay 1
Findlay (12-12 overall) opened scoring on a solo home run in the second, then the Saints were able to tie the score in the fourth. In the fifth, Siena Heights crossed the plate four more times and held on for the victory. 

Kris Forest finished the game 2-for-3 with one RBI and scoring two runs. Megan Jones went 2-for-2, also adding one run and one RBI. Lesley Ducat grabbed the win for the Saints pitching seven innings and striking out two. 

GAME TWO - Siena Heights 5, Findlay 7
Siena Heights (14-5-1, 1-0-1 WHAC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after scoring three in the first inning and two in the second, but Findlay was not finished. The Oilers scored one run in the third, before scoring three in the fifth and three in the seventh, while not allowing any more scores from the Saints.

Ashley Helmink led the Saints, going 2-for-3 at the plate and contributing two RBI's. Hailey Fox went 2-for-3 as well, and scored one run. Lindsay Brandon pitched seven innings and struck out four.  

Game two was played under protest and could end up being a no contest.

The Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, March 29, when they host Rochester in a non-conference double-header. Game times are set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
