Keller Walk Off Grand Slam Helps Propel Softball to Sweep of Adrian

The Siena Heights Softball Team swept cross town foe Adrian College in exciting fashion with a walk off grand slam in game one followed by an eight run win in game two.

In the first game, the Saints took a two run lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning only to see Adrian cut the lead in half in the fourth.  A solo run by the Saints in the fifth was followed by a solo run from Adrian in the sixth.  In the top of the 7th, Adrian got a two out two RBI hit to take the lead into the bottom of the 7th, setting up the exciting finish. 

The inning led off with Bailee Taylor getting on via an error.  Katie Hybl came up with a sacrifice moving pinch runner Kayla Boland to second.  After Lexi Agers was hit by a pitch, Kyndle Wolfinger singled on a shallow fly ball.  With the bases loaded, Kenya Keller came up and smoked a pitch over the leftfield fence for the walk off grand slam.

For the game, Wolfinger was 3-4 with two runs scored and a RBI, Keller was 2-4 with five RBI, Hannah Bleikamp, Taylor and Hailey Fox added the other Saints hits.  Lesley Ducat threw the complete game on the mound striking out eight.

In game two, Adrian scored a single run in the top of the first, with the Saints working there way out of a bases loaded jam twice, allowing just the one run.  In the bottom of the first, five runs came across from the Saints.  They tacked on two more runs in the second and two more in the sixth to end the game in the sixth with the eight run lead.

Wolfinger was 2-4 with two runs scored, Keller went 2-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Kris Forest had a homerun and three RBI, Megan Jones went 1-2 with the game winning walk off RBI, Skylar Crenshaw and Lindsay Brandon each added a hit with Brandon tacking on a RBI as well.  Hailey Fox was 2-3 with an RBI and Kelsey Lampkowski had a hit in her lone at-bat.

On the mound, Brandon threw the complete game allowing four hits and striking out four.

With the wins, the Saints move to 12-4 overall.  They are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday with their WHAC opener with UM-Dearborn.  For the most up to date schedule information, please check our website at www.shusaints.com
