Softball Sweeps Another Two Moves to 6-0 on the Season

The Siena Heights Softball Team won two games on Monday, defeating Trinity International by a score of 10-7, and following that up with a 2-0 win over Trinity Christian.

In the first game, the Saints found themselves down one after the top of the first, but tied it in the bottom of the first.  Four runs in the top of the second by Trinity International put the Saints in a hole, but they responded with five runs of their own to take the lead in the bottom of the second.  Siena Heights tacked on another run in the fourth, but saw the game tied in the top of the 5th.  In the bottom of the 6th, the Saints scored their final three runs for the 10-7 win.

Offensively, the Saints were led by Kyndle Wolfinger who scored four runs.  Kenya Keller was 4-4 with two runs, two RBI, and a double.  Kris Forest was 2-3 with two RBI and a double, Megan Jones was 2-4 with two RBI, and Bailee Taylor added an RBI triple.

Lesley Ducat got the win in relief, throwing five innings allowing one earned run and striking out three.

Against Trinity Christian, the Saints capitalized early in game two, scoring in the second and third innings. Skylar Crenshaw singled to center field to get on base and was eventually sent home by Wolfinger. Jones made it home after a slew of TCC errors, making it to second off an initial pitcher error, taking third after a wild pitch and going home after another wild pitch.

Earning the win for SHU with nine total strikeouts was Lindsay Brandon, allowing three hits. For the Trolls (1-3), Dara Megyesi had six strikeouts with only two hits against and no earned runs.

Siena Heights (6-0) will return to action on Tuesday when the Saints take on Marian (Ind.) and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
