Softball Sweeps Northwestern Ohio

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team defeated Northwestern Ohio 2-1 in game one and 9-3 in game two on Tuesday. 

In game one, UNOH scored first the top of the second inning. SHU scored in bottom of the fourth to tie the game. The Saints scored the game winning run with a single to right field by Kris Forest. Hailey Fox made a diving catch for the final out of the game. 

Forest led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Kelsey Cherry also had two hits. Lesley Ducat takes the win in the circle for SHU. She pitched all seven innings, gave up six hits, one earned run, three walks and two strike outs. 

In game two, the Saints jumped ahead early scoring one in the first. Hannah Bleikamp hit a solo home run to give the Saints a two run lead in the third. The Racers put three runs up in the top of the fourth. SHU had a huge fifth inning scoring five runs on four hits. The Saints added two insurance runs in the sixth.

Megan Jones led SHU with three hits and three RBIs. Kenya Keller, Kyndle Wolfinger and Bleikamp each had two hits. Amy Nordstrom had two runs batted in. Arica Vasquez gets the win on the mound. She pitched all seven innings, gave up nine hits, three runs, all earned and had three strike outs. 

The Saints (26-20, 10-6) take on Concordia on Thursday, April 28 for a WHAC double-header starting at 3:30.
