Softball Split With Lourdes

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team split with Lourdes (Ohio) on Sunday. The Saints won game one 12-11 and dropped game two 10-4.

In game one, the Gray Wolves scored three runs on four SHU errors. The Saints put two runs up in the bottom of 1. SHU had a huge second inning scoring five runs, Hannah Bleikamp drove in three runs on a double to left center. Both teams scored one run in the third. Lourdes scored two runs in the fourth and the fifth. SHU scored four runs in the bottom of five with Megan Jones hitting her first collegiate grand slam. Lourdes scored two runs in the top of six and one in the top of the seventh but it wasn't enough.

Katie Hybl, Kris Forest and Jones each had two hits. Jones drove in five runs, Bleikamp drove in three runs, Kelsey Cherry and Forest each had two RBIs. Lesley Ducat gets the win throwing all seven innings. Her final line score is 11 hits, 11 runs, five earned runs, five walks, four strike outs and one home run.

In game two, the Gray Wolves jumped ahead early scoring two runs in the first and adding two more runs in the top of three. SHU pushed two runs across in the bottom of the third inning. Lourdes added one run in the fourth and five runs in the fifth. The Saints scored two runs in the bottom of five to stay alive.

Forest led SHU with two hits and two RBIs. Arica Vasquez takes the loss in the circle. Her final line score is 4.1 innings pitched, nine hits, 10 runs, six earned runs, two walks and three strike outs.

The Saints (24-20, 8-6) will return to action on Tuesday, April 26, as they host Northwestern Ohio for a WHAC double-header starting at 3:30 p.m.!
