Men's Cross Country Earns 8th at NAIA Great Lakes Challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's cross country team was led by Esrom Woldemichael as the Saints finished eighth of 24 teams at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge Cross Country Invitational, on Saturday.

As a team, SHU had 228 points with a top-five team total time of 2:13:11.03 to average 6:38.21 per runner. Indiana Wesleyan won with 91 points, averaging 26:02.93 per runner.

Woldemichael finished the eight kilometer course in 25:40.08, after individual winner Tony Floyd (Madonna) finished in 25:12.41. The second Saints' finisher was Bradley Bauer with a time of 26:20.17.

The final three finishers to earn points for SHU was Anthony Vermilye, Jareb Duggan and Nicholas Barth to earn 63rd, 65th and 66th, respectively. Vermilye came across the finish line in 27:02.17 followed closely by Duggan and Barth at 27:04.11 and 27:04.23.

SHU will race on Saturday, Nov. 4, in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship set in Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Mich.
