Saints Complete Sweep of Thomas More on the Road

CRESTVIEW, Ky. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team completed the 3-0 sweep of Thomas More on the road on Tuesday night. Bryce Johnson (Pickerington, Ohio) led the Saints with 11 kills in the contest. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Siena Heights 3, Thomas More 0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-15)

Location: Crestview, Kentucky (Connor Convocation Center)

Records: Siena Heights (3-2), Thomas More (3-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Siena Heights used a 4-0 run to pull ahead of the home Saints 19-12 in the first set. Thomas More cut things to four points but couldn't catch the SHU Saints before the visitors pulled ahead 1-0.

The score remained close in the second set as the TMU Saints pulled within one point, 24-23 before SHU ended the set with a kill by Johnson to take the commanding 2-0 lead. 

The third set was all Siena Heights as the blue and yellow built a 19-10 lead before ending the match with a 25-15 decision. 

The Saints hit .231, .393, and .350 in the three games. As a team, Siena Heights finished with a .324 hitting percentage.

TOP SAINTS

• Johnson had a match-high 11 kills on the night. He added a dig and a block to his totals. 

Joudiel Poveymirow led defensively with 14 digs in the win.

THE OPPOSITION

• Quentin Roberts led TMU with nine kills. Conner Young had eight digs.

UP NEXT

Siena Heights will return home tomorrow night (Feb. 24) to host Cornerstone in a WHAC contest. That match is slated for an 8:00 p.m., EST, start.
