Men's Volleyball Sweeps Lawrence Tech to Open Conference Play

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team swept Lawrence Tech in conference (NAIA Independents) action, on Wednesday. SHU bested the Blue Devils with set scores of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-21.

GAME ONE: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 18
The Saints came out strong as Ryan Hafner served SHU to a 4-0 lead. Siena Heights held on to their lead, advancing it to 17-10 with a kill from Keegan Crawford. Three kills from Tyler Hubbard-Neil kept the Saints on track to a smooth 25-18 victory.

GAME TWO: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 20
The two teams went point-for-point until a Kyle Browne kill set SHU up for a four-point run, giving them a 15-9 lead. Siena Heights kept the five-point lead as Emmanuel Chaidex earned the game-winning kill with an assist from Crawford.

GAME THREE: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 21
After going serve-for-serve, the Blue Devils broke away from the Saints with a 12-9 lead. A service error helped SHU find their stride, going on a six-point streak to gain the a19-16 lead. The Saints held strong, winning the match on a service error by Lawrence Patton.

Siena Heights (6-1, 1-0) was led by Hubbard-Neil, earning 15 kills while managing a .483 hitting percentage and eight digs. Browne was close behind with 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. Leading in assists was Crawford with 32 assists and Jack Pranckus tallied nine digs to lead SHU.

The Blue Devils (1-9, 0-2) were led by Alejandro Gonzalez, earning 15 kills with a .452 hitting percentage. Gospel Sua managed 33 assists and eight digs as libero Joshua Eckert led with nine digs.

SHU will return to action on Friday and Saturday in the Campbellsville Tournament, where they will face Judson (Ill.), Robert Morris (Ill.) and Campbellsville (Ky.).
