Men's Volleyball Knocks off #7 Robert Morris and Falls to Cardinal Stritch

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team traveled to compete in the Cardinal Stritch Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin over the weekend. On Friday the Saints split two matches after they knocked off No. 7 Robert Morris (Ill.) and then fell to the host team Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.). This was the SHU men's volleyball program's first ever win over a top 10 ranked team.

MATCH ONE - Siena Heights 3, No. 7 Robert Morris 1
In the first match the Saints took the first set 25-19 before dropping the second set 26-24, and then closing out the match with wins in the third and fourth set with scores of 25-22 and 25-23.

Matthew Dugan led SHU with 19 kills, but was followed closely by Tyler Hubbard-Neil with 16. Emilier DeJesus finished with a team high 15 digs and Keegan Crawford led the Saints with 45 assists. Chris Horner and Matthew Duggan finished with six and five assisted blocks respectively.

Robert Morris was led by Paris McFall with 19 kills while Dalton Tucker led RMU with 19 digs. Bobby Ying finished with 45 assists and three Eagles finished with five assisted blocks -- Scott Poppen, Keahn Dunn and Bobby Ying. 

MATCH TWO - Siena Heights 0, Cardinal Stritch 3
In the second match of the night, the Saints dropped all three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-15.

Matthew Duggan was the Saints leader with 10 kills while Emilier DeJesus finished with 10 digs. Keegan Crawford dished out 25 assists and was the team leader with two assisted blocks.  

Joao Neto Sales led the Wolves with nine kills while Joe Duda finished with 30 assists. Chris Sorenson completed the match with 11 digs and Connor O'Ryan led the team with six assisted blocks.

NEXT UP
The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 18, when they take on Morningside (Iowa) and Culver-Stockton (Mo.) at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively. Both contests are a part of the Cardinal Stritch Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
