Men's Volleyball Opens With Exciting Victory

Adrian, Mich.- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team opened its campaign with an exciting 3-1 victory over visiting Cincinnati Christian in NAIA Great Lakes Division action on Monday.

Both teams played some explosive volleyball throughout the match.  Siena Heights jumped out with a 25-21 victory in set one.  The Eagles answered back with a 25-18 win in set two.  Cincinnati Christian hit .450 the second game, and was the only game they outhit the Saints.  Siena Heights won game three 25-17, and then won the match in set four 30-28.  Siena H had a little bit better hitting percentage throughout the night, .155 to .092, to take the three set thriller.

Gilius Blinstrubas led the Saints attack with 18 kills and a .317 hitting percentage.  Max Field and Lance Blough both added nine kills.  Arthur Mattje Gwoszdz led the team in assists with 40, while Zak Krug added 16 digs defensively.  Tyler Hubbard-Neil provided the Saints with some excitement as he records four serve aces.

Lance Wiles led the Eagles with nine kills while Logan Webber and Welsey Brown orchestrated the offense with 17 and 16 kills, respectively.  Cincinnati Christian falls to 1-2 on the season and in the Great Lakes Conference.

Siena Heights starts their conference season off with the win and will host Robert Morris on January 24th  at 2pm.
