Men's Track and Field Earns Third at GVSU Open

ALLENDALE, Mich.—The Siena Heights men's track and field took third place at the Grand Valley State Open, on Friday. SHU scored 67 points as the Saints finished behind Windsor at 106 points and Grand Valley State at 141 points. 

Brent Rodden took first in the 600m dash, in an automatic-qualifying time of 1:20.87. 

Blaine Ellington placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.01 seconds while Javon McQueen placed fifth with a time of 7.04 seconds. McQueen also placed third in the 60m hurdles in 8.73.

The Saints 4x400 relay team placed fifth in a time of 3:29.84.

Devonte Johnson vaulted into first place with an automatic height of 5.0m as Rees Nemeth took fourth, clearing 4.30m. Juwan Willis cleared 1.94m in the high jump to claim fourth.

Jacob Compagner took second in the shot put with a toss of 15.58m while Robert Drew landed in third with a 15.55m throw. Both Compagner and Drew earned provisional qualifying marks in the shot put. Teammate Zachery Kunst's throw of 14.61m was good for fifth place.

Compagner also placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 17.59m, an automatic qualifying distance.

At the IWU Invitational on Saturday, Ellington was the lone Saint to place in the top five, taking fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.31m.
