Men's Track & Field Runner-Up at WHAC Championship

ADIRAN, Mich. -- Zakary Haines, Dominic Muessig and Richard DePalma helped the sixth-ranked Siena Heights men's track and field team to a second place finish at the WHAC Championship Meet, on Friday. SHU had three first place finishers, 16 top three finishers and 23 total top six performances to earn points for the Saints.

No. 1 Indiana Tech dominated the meet, earning 270 points. The Saints finished with 144 points for second place while Aquinas finished third with 84 points.

DePalma earned the most Outstanding Performer of the Meet award for his performance in the pole vault. DePalma cleared the bar at 17 feet, 4.5 inches (5.30m) for first place, a PR and the

Haines earned a PR in a pair of events. He took home first place in the 400m dash, finishing in 47.81 seconds to earn the No. 8 spot in the NAIA. In the 200m, Haines finished in 21.48 for third place.

In the 800m run, Muessig finished first in 1:52.19.

Gerald Richardson earned a PR and the No. 3 NAIA ranking after clearing the high jump bar at 7 feet, 0.25 inches (2.14m).

Finishing the 1500m run in 3:59.26, Anthony Vermilye earned second place.

Frederick Boyd took home second place in the 110m hurdles win a time of 14.58 seconds.

In the 400m hurdles, Torin Anderson and Blaine Ellington finished in second and third, respectively. Anderson finished in 53.10 seconds while Ellington finished in 55.17 seconds.

Three different Siena Heights relay teams finished in second place:
4x100m relay -- 41.34 seconds: Javon McQueen, Ellington, Demetrius Hughes, Haines
4x400m relay -- 3:12.03: Haines, Juarrezz Smith, Anderson, Muessig (No. 3 NAIA)
4x800m relay -- 7:42.56: Vermilye, Austin Elliott, Brent Rodden, Muessig

Jacob Compagner finished second in the hammer throw with a 170-9.5 (52.06m) throw. Paul Jacobs took home second with a 165-10 (50.55m) toss.

In the javelin, Joshua Jenkins threw for third place with 162-5.5 (49.52m) throw.

In the discus throw, Adam Stuckert finished second with a 158-0 (48.17m) toss. Stuckert was also named to the WHAC Champions of Character team.

Siena Heights will travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the NAIA Championship Meet from May 26-28.
