Ten Event Wins Lead Men's Track & Field to First Place

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's track and field team won the Aquinas College Quad-Meet #2 with 10 first place performances, on Friday. The Saints now have 10 automatic-qualifying and five provisional-qualifying performances so far in the 2015-16 indoor track and field season.

SHU took first place with 180 points followed by Aquinas with 141 points, Hope with 108 points and Spring Arbor with 104 points. The Saints had five second place finishes and seven third place finishes.

In the 200 meter dash, Zakary Haines took first place with a time of 22.54 seconds. Haines also took first in the 400 meter dash, finishing in 50.89 seconds. He was followed by Juarrezz Smith in second place at 51.20 seconds.

Dominic Muessig finished first in the 600 meter run in 1:21.70, trailing was Brent Rodden in second place at 1:22.78. Rodden finished the 1000 meter run in 2:39.31, taking first place.

Finishing first, Frederick Boyd improved his auto-time in the 60 meter hurdles to 8.22 seconds. Joshua Jenkins followed right on Boyd's heels, finishing in 8.23 seconds. Jenkins took first in the long jump, jumping 6.79m.

Gerald Richardson cleared the bar at 2.07 meters, for first place in the high jump.

Richard DePalma bested his previous mark in the pole vault at 5.12 meters. He currently ranks first in the NAIA in the pole vault.

Siena Heights took the top five spots in the weight throw. Paul Jacobs secured the top spot with a throw of 17.02 meters, an automatic-qualifying distance.

The Saints will be back in action this weekend at the University of Findlay and Saginaw Valley State University.
