Men's T&F Competes at GVSU, Hillsdale Last Chance Meets

ALLENDALE, Mich., and HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's outdoor track and field team competed at a pair of "last chance" meets at Hillsdale and Grand Valley State over the weekend.

Pole vaulter Matthew Leaders was the only Saint to claim a new NAIA Championships automatic-qualifying mark.

Leaders had an auto height of 15 feet, 9 3/4 inches (4.82 meters) at Hillsdale, finishing third. Teammate Richard DePalma won the event with an auto 17-1 (5.21m).

The pair also competed at GVSU with DePalma placing second with an auto 17-0 3/4 (5.20m) and Leaders taking fourth with a provisional 15-5 (4.70m). DePalma's previous season-best auto height was 17-0.

Also at Hillsdale, Patrick Goebel had an auto distance in the discus, finishing third with a 159-10 (48.72m). He fell short of his previous-best toss.

Logan Moore added an auto time of 14.55 seconds while placing second in the 110-meter hurdles. Teammate Frederick Boyd took third in a provisional 14.97 seconds. Neither runner matched his previous-best time.
