DePalma Leads #11 Men's T&F at GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's outdoor track and field team had two NAIA automatic-qualifying performances and three provisionals as it placed second at Grand Valley State's Al Owens Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Richard DePalma was runner-up in the pole vault with an auto height of 16 feet, 8 inches (5.08 meters) -- an improvement over his previous auto by 3 1/4 inches.

Gauge Aebersold added an auto of 51-7 (15.72m) in the shot put to take sixth, although he fell short of his previous-best throw. Teammate Logan Gray, who already has an auto in the shot as well, had a provisional 50-6 3/4 (15.41m) to finish seventh.

Logan Moore improved upon his previous provisional time in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished in 53.98 seconds -- .05 quicker than before.

Frederick Boyd added a new provisional in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.73 seconds. He finished fifth in finals after seeding sixth with a 15.11 in preliminaries.

In team scoring, the Saints had 70 1/3 points, finishing behind only host GVSU (219).
