Parlette Named MVP as #10 Men's T&F Takes Runner-Up at WHAC Indoors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Samuel Parlette won the 3,000-meter run and was named the meet's Most Valuable Performer as the 10th-ranked Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team placed runner-up at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

Parlette won the 3K in 8:48.76 and took second in the mile run with a provisional time of 4:21.82, although he did not match his previous provisional in the mile. Parlette also finished third in the 1,000 with a 2:33.96.

Richard Depalma won the pole vault with an NAIA automatic-qualifying height of 16 feet, 8 3/4 inches (5.10 meters), although that height did not meet his previous-best.

Also for the Saints, Logan Gray recorded an auto in the shot put, hitting 51-7 3/4 (15.74 meters) -- a new auto for him. Teammate Jon Dozier was fourth in the event with a 49-3 3/4 (15.03m).

Gerald Richardson had an auto performance in the high jump, but fell short of his previous top height. He cleared 6-8 3/4 (2.05m) and won a tiebreaker to finish second. Teammates Elroy Daffin Jr. and Tre' Goynes tied for sixth at 6-5 (1.96m).

Daffin had a new provisional in the triple jump, stretching 46-7 1/2 (14.21m) to take runner-up. Camilo Zuluaga was fifth with a 44-9 (13.64m) and Goynes took sixth with a 43-11 3/4 (13.40m).

Frederick Boyd had a new provisional as well in the 60 hurdles. He placed second in 8.35 seconds after seeding seventh during provisionals in 8.69.

Dominic Muessig had a provisional 1:56.82 while placing second in the 800, but did not meet his fastest time.

Zakary Haines placed third in the 200 in 22.68 seconds and fourth in the 400 in 50.66. Joshua Miles also picked up points in the 400, clocking in at 51.45.

Elsewhere on the track, Ryan Dukes ran to sixth in the 600 with a time of 1:29.40.

Rounding out the individual scorers, Jacob Compagner was third in the weight throw with a 50-0 3/4 (15.26m) and Adam Stuckert finished fifth in the weight with a 47-7 1/4 (14.51m).

In relay competition, the 4x800 squad finished third in 8:02.74. Team members were Parker Saenz, Parlette, Matthew Robinet and Muessig.

The Saints' 4x400 team also took third in 3:23.50. Runners were Haines, Miles, Dukes and Muessig.

In team scoring, SHU scored 114 points, finishing behind only Indiana Tech (235) and ahead of Aquinas (106), Davenport (64), Cornerstone (27) and Concordia (9).
