DePalma's Vault Win Leads Men's Track & Field in Indoor Season Opener

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Richard DePalma won the pole vault with an NAIA automatic-qualifying performance as the Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team opened its season at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Classic on Friday. The Saints totaled three event wins, one auto performance and four provisionals.

DePalma cleared the vault with a height of 15 feet, 7 inches (4.75 meters).

Dominic Muessig was the Saints' only other individual winner, claiming first place in the 800-meter run with a provisional time of 1:55.84.

The Siena Heights 4x400 relay team of Zakary Haines, Juarrezz Smith, Muessig and Torin Anderson were victorious in its event. The foursome won with a provisional time of 3:19.97.

High jumpers Elroy Daffin Jr. and Gerald Richardson added provisionals. Both cleared 6-8 (2.03m) with Daffin taking third place over fourth-place Richardson via tiebreaker.

Samuel Parlette was the fastest college-sponsored runner in the 5,000, clocking in with a 15:22.89 to officially place runner-up.

Anderson was third in the 200 with a time of 22.98 seconds and thrower Logan Gray took third in the shot put with a 47-6 3/4 (14.50m).
