LTU edges out SHU

Adrian, Mich. The Siena Heights men's soccer team lost a close game to Lawrence Tech tonight by a score of 3-2

The Basics:

Final Score: Siena Heights 2 Lawrence Tech 3

Location: Adrian, Mich. (O'Laughlin Stadium)

Records: SHU 5-9-1 (2-5-1) LTU (9-5-1, 6-2-0)

How It Happened:

The Blue Devils came out shooting right away as they put up 10 shots in the first half. Saints goaltender Leo Hisamatsu (Junior, Osaka, Japan) made four saves during that half. Just as time was about to expire in the 45th minute, Lawrence Tech scored a goal to make it 1-0 heading into halftime.

The second half was a battle between both teams. The Saints and Blue Devils both put up nine shots each in the half. In the 58th minute LTU would score again. As time kept going on in the second half, Justin Gray (Sophomore, Fraser, Mich.) scored in the 80th minute to cut the deficit down. Shortly after that LTU netted another goal making it 3-1.

Gray would score another goal in the 86th minute as the Saints tried to rally back. SHU could not tie the game up as time expired in the second half to end the game.

Top Saints:

  • Gray scored two goals on the night and brought his total goals up to six on the season
  • Hisamatsu made eight saves in net for SHU

The Opposition:

  • Alvaro Merino, Oriol Paez, and Santiago Amigo scored the goals for LTU
