Saints Get First Conference Win

Rochester, Mich. The Siena Heights men's soccer team was able to edge out Rochester College this afternoon by a score of 2-1.

The Basics:

Final Score: Siena Heights 2, Rochester 1

Location: Pontiac, Mich. (Ultimate Soccer)

Records: SHU (4-4-1) RC (2-6-0)

How It Happened:

The Saints battled their way to a victory as they were able to hold off a two goal lead to win. Siena scored their two goals both in the first period. In the 15th minute Chris Ornelas (Junior, Belding, Mich.) scored from a assist by Brent Rodden (Senior, Taylor, Mich.). Later in the period, Brayden Stephan (Junior, Highland, Mich.) netted a goal to make it 2-0 going into halftime.

In the second period the Warriors would score their first and only goal of the game. They made it a 2-1 game as the Saints had to fight off the Warriors to finish and earn the win.

Andrew Kozan (Sophomore, Canton, Mich.) was in goal for the Saints as he made five saves.

  • Ornelas scored his second goal of the season
  • Stephan scored his second career goal this afternoon

The Opposition:

  • Martin Ivezaj scored the warriors only goal on the day
