Fate of Men's Soccer Determined by Penalty Kick in 1-0 Loss to Marygrove

ADRIAN, Mich. -- After 90 minutes of physical play, the Siena Heights men's soccer team fell to Marygrove 1-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action, on Saturday.

Only fine minutes into the game, Jeffery Okerstrom received a red card to leave ten men on the field for the remainder of the match for Marygrove (8-7-0, 5-4-0 WHAC). SHU managed 11 shots in the first half, including five shots on frame.

The deciding factor came in the 59th-minute minute as Mohamed AlKhulaidi converted a penatly kick for the Mustangs.In the final minute of action, SHU had a good oportunity to score but the shot when just wide of the goal.

Siena Heights outshot the Mustangs, 27-7, including 10 shots on frame to Marygrove's three. Justin Gray led the Saints with six shots, followed by Enogh Tsibu-Beckson with five shots. Mohamed Pelekh was the lone Mustang to manage two shots while five others took a shot each. The Saints held a 9-3 corner kick advantage.

Andrew Kozan stopped two shots in goal for SHU (5-10-0, 3-6-0 WHAC). Winning-goalkeeper Ruggero Vizello made 10 saves for Marygrove.

SHU wil be back in action on Wednesday to host their final regular season home game of the season. WHAC opponent Rochester will visit SHU for a 7 p.m. contest.
