Madonna Bests Men's Soccer in the WHAC Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's soccer team fell 2-1 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener against Madonna, on Saturday.

The scoring started in the second half as Hector Morales converted a penalty kick in the 45th-minute for MU (6-1, 1-0 WHAC). Chris Ornelas responded with aSaints' goal off of a free kick about 30 yards out.

The game-winner came from the Crusaders' Yuri Farkas off of a free kick in the 75th-minute, holding the 2-1 score for the remainder of the game.

Leading the Saints (2-5, 1-0 WHAC) in shots was Rahbar Khan with five. For MU, Farkas managed seven shots.

Earning the win was Joe Smith who stopped two shots for the Crusaders. Morgen Gardocki made eight saves for the Saints.

SHU was outshot, 21-13, while Madonna held a 6-1 corner kick advantage.

Siena Heights will return to action on Wednesday as the host Concordia in WHAC play at 7 p.m.
