MVNU Tops Men's Soccer in Non-Conference Action

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Siena Heights men's soccer fell 2-1 to non-conference opponent Mount Vernon Nazarene, on Saturday.

The Saints opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Rahbar Kahn sent a through ball to Brent Rodden who netted a 25-yard shot to put SHU up 1-0, a score that would hold through the first half.

In the 57th minute, Connor Davis sent a free kick past SHU keeper to tie it 1-1. The Cougars (2-1) put one away in the 71st minute as Tim Kasparek scored on a breakaway. SHU had multiple chances to score, but was unable to convert.

Leading the Saints (0-2) with two shots each was Matt Lentine, Rodden and Khan. Kasparek took four shots for MVNU.

Goalkeeper Morgen Gardocki stopped four shots in net for the Saints. Winning keeper, Adam Miller, made four saves for the Cougars.

Mount Vernon Nazarene outshot the Saints 17-9 and held a 5-2 corner kick advantage over SHU.

Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 9, as the Saints face Point Park (Pa.) in a 10 a.m. contest.
