Men's Soccer Suffers a WHAC Loss to Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Siena Heights Men's Soccer team suffered an 8-1 loss to Madonna in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest, on Saturday.

Madonna came out strong scoring five goals in the first half, the first of the goals coming in the 20th minute when Nico Gonzalez dribbled past a SHU (3-3-1, 0-1-0) defender and beat the keeper in a one on one chance. Gonzalez was quick to set the pace as he scored the second goal of the game in the 21st minute.

Siena Heights' first and only goal was not scored until the 90th minute when Matt Lentine headed the ball into the back of the net.

Collin McLaughlin let off two shots for the Saints, one being on frame. Yuri Farkas had seven shots, five on goal and scoring three for Madonna (8-0-0, 1-0-0).

Marcel Schmid earned the win in goal for the Crusaders with one save, while a slew of Saints had time in the net. Leo Hisamatsu suffered the loss for the Saints, allowing three goals. Morgen Gardocki and Brandon Gonzalez each shared time in net, letting in one and four goals, respectively

Madonna outshot the Saints, 19-5, and held an 8-1 corner kick advantage.

The Saints will travel to Ann Arbor on Wednesday to face off against WHAC opponent Concordia. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
