Men's Lacrosse

Spencer Macek enters his 2^nd season leading the Saints.  Macek was the interim coach in the COVID shortened 2021 campaign, and took over as the head coach in the 2022 season.

Macek led the Saints through one of the most difficult periods the program faced with the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic in the 2020-2021 academic year, and untimely illness and passing of the program’s first coach and mentor to Macek, Ed Maloney. Despite the challenges, the team finished the shortened season 3-2 under Macek's leadership.

In Macek’s first season as the Saints’ second coach, Macek led the Saints to a 10-6 overall record, losing in the championship game of the WHAC tournament.  Macek has long been associated with the men’s lacrosse program at Siena Heights, he joined the Saints as a freshman student-athlete for the 2012 season, the third season in Saints’ history.  Macek’s final season on the field was the 2016 campaign.  After being away for the 2017 season, Macek returned as a part of the coaching staff for the 2018 season and has remained with the Saints ever since.  He has been a part of the Saints’ program for 10 of the 13 years of its’ existence.

A four-year starter for the Saints as a player, Macek's name can be seen in every career statistical category, except faceoffs and goalie stats, in the SHU men's lacrosse record book. He currently sits atop the record books with 182 career points, and 77 assists.  He was at the top of the charts for goals (105 – now in 2^nd place), and man up goals (13 – now in 3^rd place) when his career ended.  He is now fourth caused turnovers (36) and fifth in ground balls (148).

Macek graduated from Siena Heights University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in business management with concentrations in accounting and marketing.  He received his master's degree in business administration from SHU in 2019 and master’s degree in organizational leadership in 2020.  Macek graduated from Brighton High School in 2011.
