#5 Men's Lacrosse Takes Down #10 Aquinas on Senior Night

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The fifth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team took down 10th-ranked Aquinas, 11-8, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action, on Wednesday.

SHU (10-2, 4-2 WHAC) came out to a slow start as Aquinas outscored them 4-1 in the first 13 minutes of the game. A couple goals in the final minute and 30 seconds by Garnet Potter helped Siena Heights back in at, 4-3, to end the first quarter. Danny Kreitzer from SHU scored the first of three goals for Siena Heights in the second quarter as the Saints managed a 6-5 halftime advantage.

Gradually, Siena Heights built their lead to 10-6 with the help of four third quarter goals. AQ netted two in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Saints pressed on to the 11-8 victory.

SHU was led by Potter with four goals while Nolan Lyons, Matt Roesner and Kreitzer scored twice. Michael Birt III caused six turnovers for Siena Heights whil grabbing three groundballs. Parker Richards and Tanner Cowell both managed seven groundballs.

Scoring twice for Aquinas (6-5, 1-4 WHAC) was Corby Haley as six others netted solo shots. Samuel Werner went 17-of-23 in faceoffs while grabbing 10 groundballs.

In net for the Saints, Tyler Hooper made 17 saves and picked up five groundballs to earn the win. Jacob Mackinder stopped six shots for Aquinas.

Siena Heights will conclude the regular season on Saturday against WHAC opponent Concordia, on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
