#3 Indiana Tech Tops #5 Men's Lacrosse in WHAC Play

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The No. 5 Siena Heights men's lacrosse team fell 13-7 to No. 3 Indiana Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competition, on Wednesday, to take their first loss of the 2018 season.

The Saints (7-1, 1-1 WHAC) started the scoring in the first quarter as Alex Gilbert finished a Nolan Lyons pass with 10:36 on the clock. SHU left the first quarter with a 4-2 lead. Only three goals were scored in the second half, two by IN Tech as SHU held a 5-4 lead at halftime.

Indiana Tech (8-0, 2-0 WHAC) took off in the third quarter, scoring six unanswered goals to takeover with a 10-5 lead. The Saints scored twice in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors added another three goals to close out the game with a 13-7 victory.

A hat trick from Shane Lewandowski led Siena Heights as Danny Orr added two goals. Parker Richards and Gilbert each added solo goals. Travis Byrd earned seven groundballs while going 11-of-23 in faceoffs.

For the Warriors, Jace Childs scored four goals while Brayden Givens and Chandler Peterson added three goals. Brandon Phipps scored twice as Ian Tyburski tallied one goal. Childs also lled the team with seven groundballs as Andrew Neller went 10-for-18 in faceoffs.

In goal, Tyler Hooper took the loss with 10 saves while winning goalie Evan Schuster stopped 12 shots for IN Tech.

Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday as they host Michigan-Dearborn in a 7 p.m. WHAC contest.
