#5 Men's Lacrosse Opens Conference with Victory Over #7 Lourdes

ADRIAN, Mich. – The fifth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse defeated seventh-ranked Lourdes (Ohio), 7-4, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.

Starting out the scoring in the first quarter with 13:02 on the clock was Danny Orr with an assist from Derek Martin. The Saints scored five goals in the second quarter to go up 6-0 at halftime. The Gray Wolves answered with four goals in the second half as SHU added only one, but the Saints held on for the 7-4 victory.

Leading the Saints (6-0, 1-0 WHAC) with a hat trick was Orr, as Shane Lewandowski scored twice and added an assist. Garnet Potter and Ryan Mamo each tallied a goal and assist while Mamo earned the game winner. Nolan Mince led SHU with five groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Greg Johanning managed two goals and an assist for Lourdes (5-2, 0-1 WHAC) as Casey Hilfinger and Mark O'Bryant each scored once. Drew Gilhooly earned two groundballs and two caused turnovers for the Gray Wolves.

In goal, Tyler Hooper earned the win for the Saints as he made six saves. Goalie Jared Huiskens stopped 10 shots for LU. Siena Heights managed 14-of-18 clears as the Gray Wolves had 10-of-18 clears successful.

Next up, Siena Heights will host Cleary in a 12 p.m. non-conference contest, on Saturday.
