#6 Men's Lacrosse Takes Down SCAD in Home Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. – The sixth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team came back to earn a 13-10 victory over Savannah College of Art and Design in the home opener, on Saturday.

The Bees (6-3) started the scoring quick, managing three goals in the first 2 ½ minutes of action. SHU added a goal in the first quarter, heading into the second down 1-3. Again, SCAD earned three goals while the Saints finished two shots to trail 3-6 at halftime.

With 10:31 on the clock in the third quarter, SCAD scored their seventh goal of the night. The Saints responded with three goals of their own to enter the final period down 6-7. Siena Heights tied it at 7-7 but the Bees answered, making it 8-7. The Saints went on a five goal run to earn a 12-8 lead before SCAD scored again. Savannah netted two as the Saints (5-0) finished another, fighting back for the 13-10 victory.

Shane Lewandowski and Ryan Mamo each scored three goals for the Saints as Garnet Potter and Danny Orr netted twice. Adding solo goals was Nolan Lyons, Danny Kreitzer and Alex Gilbert with the game-winner. Tallying two assists each was Lewandowski and Potter. Travis Byrd and Lewandowski each snagged six groundballs for SHU.

For the Bees, Jude Kuhn, Eric Potts and Griffin Hunt scored twice as four others scored once. Joseph Smith went 17-of-24 in faceoffs while grabbing eight groundballs to lead SCAD.

In goal for the Saints, Tyler Hooper stopped 10 shots as he earned the win. Losing goalie Connor Keehn made 14 saves for the Bees.

Next up, the Saints will begin conference action with a 7 p.m. start on Wednesday against Lourdes (Ohio).
