#5 Men's Lacrosse Falls to #7 Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The fifth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team fell 10-9 to seventh-ranked Lourdes (Ohio), in the resumption of the match scheduled for April 5, on Saturday in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest.

LU (10-2, 5-2 WHAC) held the lead 2-1 heading into the match with 6:14 remaining in the first quarter. To end the first, the Gray Wolves netted two more goals to make it 4-1. SHU cut the lead with three goals in the second quarter to make it 5-4.Both teams scored three times in the third quarter as Lourdes held on to the one goal lead at 8-7.

The Saints (7-3, 4-3 WHAC) evened the score at 8-8 just three minutes into the fourth quarter. The Gray Wolves answered quickly to take the 9-8 lead. Chris Acton netted the tying shot with 2:10 left in regulation, holding through the remainder of regulation. Lourdes scored the game-winner with 3:38 left in the first overtime.

Leading the Saints with two goals a piece was Acton and Nicholas Lyons, who also added an assist. Five different Saints netted solo shots. Only five Gray Wolves scored: Mark O'Bryant (3), Jared Yoshino (3), Bret Sproul (2), Dalton Vowles (1) and D.J. Harris (1).

Goalie Tyler Hooper stopped 20 shots for the Saints while winning-goalie Conner Mishler made 12 saves. Lourdes outshot Siena Heights, 37-29.

The Saints await their fate for a bid to the WHAC Tournament and possibly the NAIA Invitational Tournament.
