Lewandowski Helps #6 Men's Lacrosse to Victory Over Madonna

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Shane Lewandowski netted four goals and earned six assists in the sixth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse 16-4 victory over Madonna in a Wednesday night Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest.

Opening the scoring in the fourth minute of action was Madonna, taking their only lead of the game. The Saints answered with seven goals in the remaining ten minutes of the first quarter and never looked back.

Lewandowski led SHU with four goals and six assists while John Holowaty finished three shots. With two goals and two assists was Nicholas Lyons. Also adding two assists was Chris Acton, netting one goal. Seven different Saints scored solo shots, Acton, Danny Orr, Nathan Lipon, Derek Martin, Ryan Mamo, Danny Kreitzer and Eric Schenck.

Connor Humitz scored twice and tallied two assists for the Crusaders. Scoring one goal a piece was Jared Pieknik and Logan Roda, Pieknik also earning an assist.

Winning goalie Tyler Hooper was in goal for 49 minutes and made two stops before getting relieved by Lyons who also made two stops, scoring once against MU while in net. Crusader's goaltender Derek Vick stopped 10 shots. SHU outshot Madonna 49-14.

Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday when the Saints travel to Lourdes to resume the game from April 4. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
