Men's Lacrosse Picks Up Victory Over Michigan-Dearborn

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's lacrosse came back from a 4-3 halftime deficit to defeat Michigan-Dearborn 11-6 in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest, on Saturday.

After a slow start in the first half, the Saints rallied at halftime and took control of the game. Chris Acton netted three goals in the third quarter as SHU headed to an 8-5 lead over UMD at the end of the third. Siena Heights netted three more in the fourth quarter while allowing only one more goal to earn the 11-6 victory.

Shane Lewandowski and Acton lead the Saints (6-1, 3-1 WHAC) with three goals a piece, Lewandowski earning four assists as Acton tallied one. Back in action for SHU was Danny Orr, scoring twice. With solo goals for the Saints was Nicholas Lyons, Ryan Mamo and Derek Martin. Lyons tallied two assists for SHU.

For the Wolves (5-4, 2-3 WHAC), James Hatch led with three goals while Alex Gjokaj, Devon Callaghan and Justin Brodzik each finished solo shots.

Winning goalie Tyler Hooper stopped 17 shots for Siena Heights. Liam Turner made three saves for Michigan-Dearborn.The Saints were outshot 40-33 while UMD held a 14-7 faceoff advantage.

Next up, Siena Heights will travel to Aquinas for a Monday evening WHAC contest. Opening faceoff is set for 5 p.m.
