Acton Helps Lift #10 Men's Lacrosse Over #8 Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Chris Acton netted five goals to help lift the tenth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over eighth-ranked Indiana Tech, on Saturday.

SHU (5-1, 2-1 WHAC) started off with a strong first quarter, Acton scoring three of the Saints' five goals that quarter. At the end of the second quarter, Siena Heights led the Warriors 8-4.

Indiana Tech (8-3, 4-1 WHAC) found some life in the third quarter and cut the Saints' lead to 8-6, but SHU kept scoring and earned an 11-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Matt Roesner scored the game-winning 11th goal off an Acton assist with 5:25 remaining in the third quarter.

Siena Heights added three more goals in the final quarter to take the 14-10 victory.

Leading the Saints was Acton, scoring five goals and two assists. With two goals a piece was Nicholas Lyons, John Holowaty and Nathan Lipon--Lyons also earning three assists. Shane Lewandowski, Alex Gilbert and Matt Roesner each added a lone goal. A solo assist came from Ryan Mamo and Gilbert.

For the Warriors, Will McKinney led with four goals as Jace Childs, Chandler Peterson and Brandon Gartes each added two goals.

In the faceoff, Travis Byrd went 13-of-16 for the Saints. Peterson won 10-of-19 faceoffs for Indiana Tech.

Tyler Hooper stopped 12 shots in net for Siena Heights to earn the win. Warriors' goalie Joe Dosen made three saves.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to second-ranked Lourdes (Ohio) for a 7 p.m. conference contest.
