#9 Men's Lacrosse Overwhelmed by #11 Lourdes

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The MCLA ninth-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team was overwhelmed by 11th-ranked Lourdes (Ohio) in the semifinal round of the CCLA Tournament by a score of 19-8, on Friday.

Lourdes shutout the Saints in the first half and added on 7 Gray Wolves' goals.

Shane Lewandowski and John Holowaty each put in goals for the Saints to make the score 8-3 with 6:17 remaining in the third quarters. Lourdes responded by scoring five more goals before the third period expired.

With 5:07 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Gray Wolves added their final goal leading 19-5. The Saints tacked on three more goals with less than 1:15 remaining in the game to reach the final 19-8 score.

Holowaty led the Saints (11-5) with three goals and an assist. Danny Orr and Lewandowski each added a pair of goals, Orr also earning an assist. Scoring a solo goal was Chris Acton and tallying an assist was Spencer Macek.

For the Gray Wolves (14-2), Jared Yoshino, Danny Bichsel and Dalton Vowles each tallied five goals while Yoshino added eight assists. Dylan Gill and Tanner Jaramillo finished with three goals and one goal, respectively.

Mark Ward went 13-for-17 in faceoffs for the Saints, earning eight ground balls. Defensively, Joshua Abruzzo caused four turnovers and picked up a ground ball. In goal, Tyler Hooper stopped eight shots for SHU. Winning goaltender Conner Mishler made six saves.

Lourdes outshot Siena Heights, 41-28, and only had 13 turnovers compared to the Saints' 20.

Siena Heights will be back in action in the first round of the NAIA Invitational in Greenville, S.C. No. 3 seed Siena Heights will face the No. 6 seed Reinhardt (Ga.) at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
