Men's Lax Outlasts Lawrence Tech in First Round of CCLA Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Nicholas Lyons scored five goals in the third-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse 18-15 victory over Lawrence Tech in the first round of the CCLA Tournament, on Saturday.

The Saints (11-4) went up 3-1 at the end of the first quarter. With an explosive second quarter, SHU went up 12-6, Lyons finishing four of the second quarter goals.

Lawrence Tech fought back, closing the gap 15-11 by the end of the third. LTU got within three with 14:07 remaining in the game. With 11:24 left on the clock, Danny Orr scored the unassisted, game-winner.

Tom Kreitzer, Shane Lewandowski and each finished with three goals for SHU while Lyons led the team with five goals and an assist. Adding solo goals for the Saints were Spencer Macek, Nathan Lipon, John Holowaty and Alex Gilbert. Earning assists for SHU were Joshua Abruzzo, Chris Acton, Lewandowski and Derek Martin.

For the Blue Devils (4-7), Tristan Burkhard led with six goals while Joey Badalamenti added three assists.

Tyler Hooper made nine saves for the Saints to earn the win. LTU goalie Adam Gohl stopped six shots.

Next up, Siena Heights will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the next round of the CCLA tournament. The Saints will take on Lourdes (Ohio) on Friday at a time to be determined.
