#14 Men's Lacrosse Edges Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The 14th-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team edged Aquinas, 6-5, for a non-conference victory on Wednesday.

Tom Kreitzer scored two goals while Chris Acton, John Holowaty, Shane Lewandowski and Nate Woods put in one each for SHU (10-1).

Acton also had two assists and Dan Diffenderfer contributed one helper. Mark Ward went 7-4 in the faceoff circle.

On the defensive side, winning goaltender Ryan Mailloux stopped 11 shots. Joshua Abruzzo added eight groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Siena Heights led, 3-0, before Aquinas climbed back and eventually tied the contest at 4-4.

Early in the second half, host AC scored two goals in a 28-second span to the the game; Lewandowski broke the knot 18 seconds later with SHU's fifth score. Holowaty tacked on an insurance goal before Aquinas' Will Comai scored the hosts' final goal with 26 seconds remaining.

Comai led Aquinas (5-6) with two goals while goalie Jimmy Watt had 13 saves.

Siena Heights will return to action on Sunday with its regular-season finale. The Saints will meet Michigan-Dearborn for a 2 p.m. Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Central Division matchup.
