Men's Golf Finishes Fourth to Open Spring Season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's golf team finished fourth in a five team field at the IU-Southbend Invitational, on Saturday.

As a team, the Saints shot 339 through the first round and improved with a 326 in the final round, ending with 665 total strokes to earn fourth. IU-Northwest won with a total of 635 and Grace (Ind.) finshed in second with 638 strokes. Governors State earned third with a 641 as IU-Southbend took fifth with 675.

Leading SHU was Aaron Bitz who tied for ninth place, ending the tournament with a 162 (77-85). In 14th and 16th place was Nick Sanscrainte and Robert Kowalenko, respectively, finishing with 165 (86-79) and 167 (84-83).

The final two Saints scoring were Jimmy Monteith and Hunter Walsh. Monteith ended in 20th place with a 171 (92-79) while Walsh took 25th with a 184 (94-90).

Siena Heights will be back in action on Friday in the IU-Kokomo Invitational.
