Men's Golf Falls One Stroke Short of WHAC Regular Season Title

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's golf team fell one stroke short of tying for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular-season championship, taking runner-up in both the WHAC standings and at the league's fifth jamboree. A total of 61 golfers from 10 schools competed Friday at Sylvania Country Club.

Parker Ross carded a 75 and tied for second at WHAC Jamboree #5 while Robert Kowalenko fired a sixth to tie for fourth on the 6,724-yard, par-72 course.

Tim Combs and Nick Zanotti added 81s and tied for 20th.

In the team standings, Indiana Tech finished with a five-round total of 1,523 to edge SHU's score of 1,524. Davenport, which held the lead after four rounds, finished third with a 1,527 and was followed by Northwestern Ohio (1,537), Madonna (1,546), Lourdes (1,566), Lawrence Tech (1,570), Cornerstone (1,600), Aquinas (inc.) and Cornerstone (inc.).

Eventual-champ Indiana Tech was third after four rounds -- five strokes behind SHU and 17 behind Davenport -- but the Warriors had a 307 on Friday to surge past the Saints (313) and Panthers (328).

UNOH's Keith Long was Friday's medalist, finishing with a 74.

The Saints fall season is now complete. They will compete again in the spring of 2015.
