Michigan-Dearborn Edges Men's Basketball in WHAC Contest

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent Michigan-Dearborn, 63-60, on Saturday.

The contest started out close, UM-Dearborn led only 13-15 with 9:39 remaining in the first half. The Wolverines (14-10, 9-5 WHAC) went on a nine-point run before SHU could respond. UM-Dearborn led 29-23 at halftime. 

Siena Heights fought their way back for most of the second half, taking the lead 58-57 with a Tony Jackson II layup. The Wolverines scored five points to seal the victory. Jackson finished the contest with a layup in the final seconds.

Leading the Saints (8-12,4-9 WHAC) with a double-double, 14 points and 15 rebounds was Jackson, also earning three assists. Keith Jordan Jr. added on 15 points and four boards for SHU. UM-Dearborn was led by Jason Penn with 15 points along with Cody Kegley and Xavier Crofford tallying 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Overall, Siena Heights went 20-54 (37.0%) from the floor, 4-21 (19.0%) behind the arc and 16-22 (72.7%) at the line. The Wolverines shot 22-49 (44.9%) from the floor while going 7-20 (35.0%) in three-point land and 12-16 (75.0%) at the charity stripe.

Next up, SHU will host Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday in an 8 p.m. WHAC contest.
