Jackson Game Winner Lifts Men's Basketball Over Concordia

ADRIAN, Mich. -- A final second lay-up by Tony Jackson II helped lift the Saints to victory over Concordia on a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night. The Saints walked away with the 76-74 victory.

Siena Heights (8-11, 4-8 WHAC) went on a 10-0 run to open the game, but the Cardinals battled back and tied the ball game at 19 with 7:25 left in the half. SHU was able to enter halftime with a 38-35 lead.

The second half was a battle with baskets being traded throughout. CUAA led the ball game 74-71 with 58 seconds remaining in the game, then Keith Jordan Jr. knocked down a triple to tie the score. SHU called a time out with 23 seconds to go to make a play call. It was the heroics of Jackson II on a lay-up with three seconds left in the contest that gave the Saints the victory.

From the field Siena Heights finished 28-61 (45.9%), 9-21 (42.9%) from three and 11-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line. Concordia (7-13, 4-9 WHAC) shot 27-54 (50%) from the floor, 4-13 (30.8%) from behind the arc and 16-20 (80%) from the charity stripe.

Tony Jackson II led the Saints with 23 points and 15 rebounds, including the game-winner. Keith Jordan Jr. and Nick Randle added 17 and 16 points respectively. Hadi Akle, Jackson II and Randle each dished out three assists.

Connor Phee finished with a team high, 25 points for the Cardinals while Emmanuel Dominguez and Jalen Thompson each grabbed seven rebounds. Dominguez led CUAA with three assists.
