Men's Basketball Falls Short to Rochester in WHAC Action

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell short in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest, 83-73, to Rochester, on Wednesday.

The Saints and the Warriors stayed close for the majority of the first half as the score was tied at 24-24 with 6:21 remaining in the half. Then Rochester went on at 16-5 run for the remainder of the half to claim a 40-29 halftime lead.

Starting the second half, Siena Heights (3-4, 1-3 WHAC) came out strong with seven unanswered points to cut the Warriors' lead to four points with 18:01 remaining in the half. RC went on another run to lead SHU by 16 points, 65-49, with 9:20 remaining in the game. The Saints worked their way back into the game, coming within six points with 5:03 on the clock. It wasn't enough as the Warriors kept SHU a safe distance away to close out the game 83-73. 

Leading the Saints with a double-double was Tony Jackson II with 17 points and 11 rebounds, all defensive. Another big SHU contributor was Keith Jordan Jr., earning 16 points as he made 7-of-10 shots while grabbing eight boards. For the Warriors, Armand Cartwright managed 18 points to lead RC (5-5, 2-1 WHAC). Justin Nafso totaled 15 points while adding seven assists and three steals for Rochester.

As a team, SHU went 27-of-62 (43.5%) while making 5-of-19 (26.3%) behind the arc and 14-of-23 (60.9%) from the charity stripe. The Warriors totaled 25-of-60 (41.7%) overall, going 13-of-27 in three-point land and 20-of-27 (74.1%) from the free throw line.
