Jackson Efforts Help Men's Basket to Overtime Victory Over Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Tony Jackson II scored 23 points to help the Siena Heights men's basketball team to a 80-69 overtime victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Concordia, on Wednesday.

At halftime, the Cardinals (3-3, 0-2 WHAC) held a two-point lead, 29-27, prior to the Saints making up the two-point difference in the second half to tie it up 65-65 at the end of regulation. Siena Heights (2-1, 1-0 WHAC) had solid defense and quick shooting in the five minute overtime period, outscoring CUAA, 15-4, to win it 80-69.

Jackson ended the game with 23 points, seven robounds, a block and an assist to help SHU, going 7-11 on the floor and 9-11 from the free throw line. PJ Austin put-up 18 points for the Saints, making four three-pointers. Adding 15 points for Siena Heights was Keith Jordan Jr., who also grabbed the team-leading eight rebounds. The last Saint to score in double-digits was Nick Randle, finishing with 13 points and a game-leading four assists.

Leading the Cardinals, Connor Phee managed 17 points and nine rebounds while blocking four SHU shots and earning three steals. Three other Cardinals ended in double-digits: Jared McDaniel had 14 points as Jalen Thompson and Dakota Bostic each managed 10 points.

Siena Heights shot well, going 30-58 (51.7%) overall, 7-18 (38.9%) behind the arc and 13-19 (68.4%) at the charity stripe. The Cardinals were 22-56 (39.3%) on the floor, 4-15 in three-point land and 21-25 (84.0%) from the free throw line.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Indiana Tech for a 3 p.m. WHAC contest.
