Men's Basketball Falls to Spring Arbor in Non-Conference Action

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell 63-46 to non-conference opponent Spring Arbor, on Wednesday.

The Cougars (6-0) came out quick with an 18-0 start over the Saints, Siena Heights making their first basket with 10:48 left in the first half. Spring Arbor led the Saints 34-18 at halftime. SHU was unable to comeback and fell 63-46.

Tony Jackson II led the Saints (1-1) with 14 points and eight rebounds. Josh Winowiecki scored nine points and earned 10 rebounds for SHU. The Cougars' Paul Marandet scored 21 points while Zach Medendorp put up 16 points and had four rebounds.

As a team, Siena Heights shot 17-47 (36.2%) from the floor, 4-23 (17.4%) behind the arc and 8-14 (57.1%) from the charity stripe. The Cougars went 22-59 (37.3%) overall, 4-15 (26.7%) in three-point land and 15-17 (88.2%) from the free throw line.

Next up, Siena Heights will travel to NCAA Div. I opponent Central Michigan, on Friday. The exhibition contest will begin at 4 p.m.
