Martin, Randle Efforts Help Men's Basketball to OT Victory Over LTU

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Jerrell Martin and Nick Randle helped the Siena Heights men's basketball team to a 76-74 overtime victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Lawrence Tech, on Saturday.

The score remained close throughout the first half, the Saints claiming the largest lead at the end of the half at 33-29. SHU kept climbing, eventually holding a 10 point lead with 13:10 remaining in the game. The Blue Devils tied it up at 55-55 and points went back and forth for the remainder of the game to send SHU into overtime, 67-67.

Lawrence Tech jumped out to a four-point lead with 2:35 remaining in overtime. Martin made a three to give the Saints momentum and go on a 9-0 run to go up 76-71 over LTU with 12 seconds left, effectively holding them out for the remainder of the game.

Leading the Saints (12-11, 7-9) with 17 points a piece was Martin and Randle. Martin also added eight rebounds, three blocks and two assists while Randle tallied three assists. Josh Winowiecki, Christopher Pearl and Tony Jackson II added 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

For the Blue Devils (3-19, 2-14) Payton DeWildt had 28 points and Jon Osantowski earned 11 points.

From the floor, the Saints went 29-60 (48.3%) while the Blue Devils shot 25-62 (40.3%). SHU went 5-19 (26.3%) in three-point land and made 13-20 (65.0%) from the charity stripe. Lawrence Tech shot 5-13 (38.5%) behind the arc and 19-28 (67.9%) in free throws.

Siena Heights will return to action when the Saints host Wilberforce (Ohio) for a 7:30 p.m. contest, on Monday.
