Men's Basketball Falls to #1 Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell to top-ranked Cornerstone 76-63 in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest, on Wednesday.

Jerrell Martin led the Saints (11-11, 6-9) with 18 points while Christopher Pearl earned a double-double, addind 11 points and 10 boards. Tony Jackson II had a teamj-high seven assists, also tacking on 12 points.

Leading the game was Golden Eagles' Cory Cox with 22 points. Sam Vander Sluis and Kyle Steigenga both earned double-doubles for CU.

The Golden Eagles (21-2, 14-1) were off to a quick start over the Saints, leading 39-31 at halftime and holding out for the remainder of the game. From the floor, SHU went 26-60 (43.3%) while the Golden Eagles shot 32-58 (55.2%). The Saints shot 7-19 (36.8%) behind the arc and CU went 7-15 (46.7%).

Siena Heights will be back in action when they travel to Lawrence Tech for a 7 p.m. WHAC contest on Saturday.
