Men's Basketball Loses to Michigan-Dearborn

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team lost to Michigan-Dearborn 72-66 in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic contest, on Saturday.

Leading the Saints was Nick Randle with 22 points, going 6-for-9 behind the arc while adding two steals. Jerrell Martin earned 12 points and six rebounds for SHU while Tony Jackson II came up with eight points and eight rebounds.

Siena Heights (11-10, 6-8) took an early 11-8 lead, but we quickly caught by the Wolverines. The teams battled as UMD took the bigest lead of the night, 31-24, with 2:34 remaining in the first half. SHU answered with a last second three-pointer by Randle to come with two at halftime, 31-29.

Jackson tied it up for the Saints coming out of halftime. The score remained tight throughout the game, the scored was tied 10 times in the seconds half. At 61-61, Michigan-Dearborn made a run for it, eventually earning a five point lead with :40 on the clock, and the final 72-66 score with six seconds left.

UMD (16-7, 10-5) was lead by Marcus Williams who put-up 25 points with six rebounds. Jason Penn and Cody Kegley also scored in double-digits for the Wolverines.

As a team, the Saints were outshot by Michigan-Dearborn 26-59 (44.1%) to 22-56 (39.3%). However, SHU went 11-25 (44.0%) in three-point land while UMD only went 9-23 (39.1%). Both teams managed 11 points from the free throw line.

Siena Heights will be back in action on Wednesday when the Saints travel to top-ranked Cornerstone for a 7:30 p.m. WHAC contest.
