Marygrove Defeats Men's Basketball in WHAC Action

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell 64-61 to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Marygrove, on Saturday.

Throughout the first half, the Saints and the Mustangs went back-and-forth for the lead until the Mustangs landed on a six point lead at halftime, 37-31.

SHU (9-8, 4-6 WHAC) fought past an eight point deficit to take the lead 51-50 with 7:58 left in the game. Marygrove went on an 8-0 run to put pressure on the Saints. Siena Heights came within one point twice in the final few minutes of action but was unable to convert a game-winner.

Leading Siena Heights with 17 points was Tony Jackson II, also earning eight rebounds. With a double-double, Josh Winowiecki added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Helping SHU with 11 points was Kevin Smith II.

Kenneth Miller led the Mustangs (4-14, 3-7 WHAC) with 22 points and three assists. Earning a double-double was Nate Taylor with 11 point and 12 boards.

SHU was outshot 35.5% (22-62) to 43.1% (25-58) from the floor. Marygrove went 6-13 (46.2%) behind the arc while the Saints went 3-15 (20.0%).

The Saints will be back in action when they travel to Lourdes on Wednesday for a WHAC contest. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
