#1 Cornerstone Overwhelms Men's Basketball

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell 75-49 to NAIA top-ranked Cornerstone in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest, on Wednesday.

In a slow first half, the Saints (9-5, 4-4 WHAC) managed to keep the Golden Eagles within nine with a halftime score of 24-15. Cornerstone opened up the second half with a 7-0 run and didn't look back.

Leading the Saints with 12 points was Keith Jordan Jr. Earning seven points apiece for SHU was Kevin Smith II, Tony Jackson II and Nick Randle.

Kyle Steigenga earned 16 points and grabbed seven boards for the Golden Eagles. Scoring 15 points for CU was Sam Vander Sluis while Michael McLaughlin and Eric Readman both put-in 12 points for Cornerstone (14-1, 8-0 WHAC).

As a team, the Saints went 15-49 (30.6%) on the floor and 6-16 (37.5%) in three-point land. CU went 31-58 (53.4%) overall and 6-18 (33.3%) behind the arc. At the charity stripe, Siena Heights made 13-of-17 while Cornerstone went 7-of-9.

Next up, SHU will travel to Calumet Saint Joseph for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The non-conference contest will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
