Winowiecki Helps Men's Basketball to Vistory Over Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. -- Josh Winowiecki scored 15 points to help the Siena Heights men's basketball team to a 74-73 victory over non-conference opponent Trinity Christian (Ill.), on Saturday.

Overall, five Saints (2-0) scored in double-digits in the SHU victory. Winowiecki led the Saints with 15 points and 8 rebounds while Chris Pearl tacked on 13 points and five rebounds.

Tony Jackson II, Nick Randle and Jerrell Martin each earned four rebounds while adding on 12, 111 and 10 points, respectively.

After the first half, the Saints trailed the Trolls 28-33 shooting only 35.7% while the Trolls went 54.2%.

Siena Heights tied the game at 59-59 with 5:44 remaining in the game. The score would continue to go back-and-forth until the Trolls went up 73-70 with 39 seconds remaining in the game.

With six seconds left, Pearl made a three-pointer to ensure the Saints' an overtime opportunity. After a Troll turnover, Winowiecki was fouled with 00:01 on the clock. After missing his first free throw, it came down to his final shot. Winowiecki made his second free throw to send the Saints to a 74-73 victory.

Overall, the Saints shot 43.9% while going 5-for-17 (29.4%) behind the arc. Trinity Christian (0-2) shot 51.9% overall and went 10-for-23 (43.5%) in three-point land.

Next up, Siena Heights will travel to Spring Arbor on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference contest.
