Late Run Helps Men's Basketball Past Lawrence Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- George Goodman scored 22 points and Christian Covile put in 20 as the Siena Heights men's basketball team earned an 81-71 win against Lawrence Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Covile also had nine rebounds and four steals while Goodman and Carter Drazga dished four assists each. Tyler Leighton contributed seven rebounds for the Saints (11-18, 7-14), who kept their WHAC Tournament hopes alive with the victory.

Siena Heights broke a 62-all tie with 12 consecutive points in the second half -- eight of those points from Covile -- and held on the rest of the way.

Both teams caught fire from three-point land in the first half, combining to go 15 of 20 (75.0 percent). SHU was 6 of 7 (85.7 percent) while the visiting Blue Devils went 9 of 13 (69.2 percent). The period included 14 lead changes.

LTU (5-24, 2-19) eventually cooled off in the second half, going 8 of 26 from the field (30.8 percent), and the Saints were able to capitalize.

As a team, Siena Heights finished 29 of 54 from the field (53.7 percent), 8 of 12 from three-point land (66.7 percent) and 15 of 16 from the free-throw line (93.8 percent). LTU was 25 of 53 (47.2 percent), 12 of 27 (44.4 percent) and 9 of 11 (81.8 percent), respectively.

Jon Harden was the Devils' leading scorer with 16 points. Brandon Keur and Brad Watterworth added 13 and 10, respectively.

The Saints will finish their regular season on Sunday with a 4 p.m. WHAC matchup at Aquinas. They need a win -- and some help -- to qualify for the conference tournament.
