LIMA, Ohio -- Lee Gardner III and Jerrell Martin scored 10 points apiece for the Siena Heights men's basketball team, which struggled from the field in a 75-56 loss to Northwestern Ohio in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competition on Saturday.

Martin and Tyler Leighton added six rebounds apiece for the Saints (6-7, 3-4), who fell behind on an early UNOH run and never recovered.

Siena Heights committed seven turnovers during the game's first 10 minutes and quickly found itself behind, 30-11. The Saints trimmed the gap to nine points on four different occasions before facing a 42-32 halftime deficit.

Northwestern Ohio, which received votes in the latest NAIA poll, then held its lead in the double-digits for the entirety of the second half.

Lawrence Jackson led the Racers (7-4, 5-2) with 28 points while Ed Jenkins and Josh Scott dished seven assists. Kermeriaz Harrington added seven rebounds and Jenkins contributed four steals.

The Saints will return to action on Thursday with an exhibition game at NCAA Division II opponent Lake Superior State. SHU's next official contest is a Dec. 30 non-conference home game against Taylor (Ind.).
